Howdy all :)
I didn't realize that it has been a whole week since I posted. Wow, time flies when you are doing nothing... haha (I'm only kind of kidding).
I didn't venture out much during the week this week. On Wednesday I set out to the upper west side and LOVED the area. It was very clean and organized and modern without being stuck up. That is where I found our first real piece of furniture!! We have a dresser on it's way this week. I'm so excited!!! 7 year old me would be ashamed at my enthusiasm towards new furniture but, I don't care :)
On Thursday, I had a pretty rough time. It is starting to really kick in that we don't have our family and friends here and that is tough. Being home alone all day really started to wear me down. Luckily, I have an AMAZING Mom who skyped with me, talked me through it, and made me feel like a person again. I have such a wonderful family and I am more thankful for them now than I ever have been. I love them so much!!!!!
Timmy knew that I was having a rough go of it on Thursday so he decided to take me to Bobby Flay's restaurant Bar Americain, so we got dressed up, and headed out. I had ciopinno for dinner which had half of a lobster (still in the shell) and I had to crack it. Well, I made a pretty descent mess (not limited to the cracking of the lobster). Once they cleared the plates, our waitress saw the spots on the pristine white table cloth and then came back over with a white linen napkin to spread over and hide the spill on the table cloth. She then said, "sorry, restaurant policy." HOW EMBARRASSING!!! So... needless to say... I did not make eye contact with her the rest of the meal. I asked Timmy if he wanted to switch spots, but he respectfully declined. :) All in all, we had a very yummy meal (though I was expecting more zing from the king of spice) and walked back home. It is out of control how many people are ALWAYS out and about here!
Like I said... not much in the way of adventure this week but we did have a good weekend. On Saturday we headed to the south end of the island and went exploring. The south end is very nice :) We visited Wall Street and got to see the Bull. I really wanted to take a picture with it but as with everything here, it was jam packed with people...lame. We then went onward to Battery Park and down to where the Staten Island Ferry runs. We could see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from the shore and that was pretty cool. It was a lot of walking but we got to go along the Hudson and see the pretty parks and flowers along the way... and eat a lobster roll on the water :)
Sunday we had brunch... WITH FRIENDS! I know a couple, friends that I went to high school with who live here now, but are soon moving (of course). It was great to get together with some familiar faces and to get some insight from people who were in the same boat not too long ago. We ate at a cafe that was in the movie You've Got Mail. yuuuummmm. They told us a bunch of fun things to do and gave us some great resources to help us along the way. We were also informed about the treacherous winter that will come before we know it. Uh oh...
It was a fun weekend with a promising week ahead. I plan on attempting the crazy Macy's again and on Tuesday, we get CABLE and our dresser delivered :) A big day for the Kellys haha. On Saturday we will to to our first Broadway play and Timmy has a three day weekend! Things are going to be out of control haha :)
Once July hits, I'm hoping things will start moving faster. Our anniversary is coming up, 4th of July is next weekend, Kristen and Bryan are coming up for a visit, and I had a very promising conversation with Sally about a possible trip up here. Then at the very beginning of August... BACK TO TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get excited!! Things are looking up :)
I just want to say that moving up here has really made me feel so incredibly lucky. I have had a rough time so far, but my support network is incredible! I have the best family and friends that anyone could ever ask for. I was afraid that people would already be forgetting about me, but everyone has been so wonderful. Mom and Laura have been beyond fabulous and check in on me just about every day. They are both always ready talk me through anything when I'm scared, just like they always have been. Mom and I have gotten really good at skyping which helps me to not feel so lonely. Sally, Kristen, Jessica, and all of our friends have been checking in to make sure we are doing well, and are always ready with an enthusiastic, "It's going to be such an adventure!"
I miss y'all so much, and I love you more than you can know! Your words of encouragement and my eagerness to see you soon is what is getting me through all of this. I would not be making it right now if it wasn't for your support in this crazy time in my life. I hope you all have a wonderful week :) Drink a wonderful sonic drink for me this week ;) and savor it!!!

First weekend
Hello all :)
Well it has been a few days since I posted, so I thought I would tell you guys some new stories :)
We are winding down on our first weekend in the city and boy is there a lot to talk about!!
On Wednesday, I ventured out alone to make the 2.5 mile journey to Bloomingdales. Almost got his by a cab (this is starting to become a bit of a routine) but I made it! On my journey, I was approached by a guy about my age on the street. He said, "Excuse me, where are you from?" I thought, "He must KNOW I am from Texas.." So I said with pride "TEXAS!!!" with a big honkin smile. He said, "cool, I'm from Washington, and we are really trying to get our music out to the public." My heart dropped. I was so excited to find someone to talk about Texas with. Instead, I was handed a sweet looking CD complete with two rapping babies on the cover. haha.. that's right... RAPPING BABIES. I listened to his speech about loving his music blah blah blah, and he said I could have the CD for just a small donation... even just 4 quarters. I politely declined and he attempted one last time with "but you could be my sister from another mister... just help me out, you'll love our music." I told him that I was sure I would, but no thanks, and giggled as I walked away. hahaha... crazies
On Friday, I went on the subway ALL BY MYSELF!!!!! I was very impressed with myself... for obvious reasons. I must have looked like I knew what I was doing because an old man asked me for directions :) (of course I had no idea where he was asking about) I went all the way to SoHo to see what all was there and to do some more shopping. Did you know that at the DSW here they carry Jimmy Choo!!! What is that about??? Of course, whenever I leave the house...RAIN. So I chose to cab it home. Halfway home, my cabbie says, "hold on miss, I have to go to the bathroom" and LEAVES me alone in the cab!! Then, once I got home he tried to charge me even for the time he was not in the cab. I called him on it, but tipped him anyway out of pure fear... I have to get better about that.
We chose to make Saturday our day to go to Jersey. We were going to look at furniture, go to Target and go grocery shopping a super walmart. We were ready for the day and jumped in a cab. The cabbie asked us how much we want to pay. Confused we asked how much does it cost. He said that it just depends on what we want to pay and to make him an offer. Still confused we said... "it's just four miles" He said, "most people pay 45, 50, 55 bucks." Timmy said "we will give you 15 bucks... it's four miles." He said "NO! GET OUT." and kicked us out. So... new game plan... headed to Queens. That was quite and experience with some great people watching. We got to go to TARGET!!!! wooohoooooooo.
Our friend Lesslie met up with us in Queens. She was on an overnight trip and had 22 hours to spend with us! Woohoo... our first visitor :) She braved the crazy subway with us and we got to hand out with a Texas friend! We went to a super tasty dinner at a place called Mizza. They had delicious Italian food. I got a "Sunday pasta" that had meatballs and sausage... yuuuuummmmmy. As I was eating, I found a small little morsel in my pasta that had come out of my meatball. I ate it. It was sweet and tasted like a blueberry. Timmy and Lesslie tried it and agreed. Strange but it indeed tasted like a blueberry. The food was so good, but we were thrown off, so I asked the waitress... "This may sound stupid but... are there blueberries in the meatballs?" The waitress starts rolling laughing and says... "that's so cute. No, they are currants, but you're right, they kind of taste like blueberries. hahahahahha that is my favorite question ever!" then walks away laughing at me. That was embarrassing, but seems like that is just the story of my life these days. ... looking like an idiot. At least I made her laugh. Oh well... what can you do???
Well. today is Father's Day and I really miss my family. Being away is really hard. I want to count down the days back to Texas. There has to be an app for that.
Well I miss you and and love you very much. Everybody hug somebody else and pretend it's me :) I'll check in with you later!

We have arrived!
Hello everyone :) Well it's official, we live in New York City. How weird is that? Today was my third day here and people are asking for my blog to start, so... here goes nothing :)
Our journey here was tough. Timmy was smart and upgraded us to first class, in hopes that I would be less likely to bail. It worked I guess because I am here. He also sweetened the deal with tickets, for my birthday, to see The Addams Family on Broadway in a few weeks. He knows me too well. I'm sure the flight attendants thought I was a crazy person but I made sure to not wear mascara that morning so as not to frighten anyone. All of our luggage made it, which was a relief!
When we first walked into the apartment, my heart stopped a little. It looked SO SMALL! Boxes literally filled the apartment and I had no idea where everything would possibly fit. I thought we had gotten rid of so much, yet it seemed like an impossible task. Then I opened the boxes to find that each box contained an entire tree's worth of paper to pack two picture frames.
Our apt building is very nice. The view is wonderful from our rooftop. You can see the statue of liberty. You can see the Hudson River from our windows in our apartment so that is pretty cool also. I was afraid that there would be a ton of noise at all hours, but it is nice and quiet in our apartment. It did not come with blinds and I forgot to pack our curtains, so that is next on my agenda because we get a lot of natural light. We have decent closets (for NY) so that is also a very good thing. First thing we did.... ate pizza :) Oddly enough, we ate at a place that loves New Orleans so Timmy got a slice that had crawfish on it and tasted like gumbo. Different, but it kinda tasted like home... cajun style :)
We then ventured to Bed Bath and Beyond. HA! It's three stories and has a doorman. It made me dizzy.
Then to the grocery store. HA again! I miss HEB. Everything here is outrageously priced. They only have two kinds of ramen noodles and they are like 70 cents for one. Boooooooo. I'm not happy about this.
Our first full day, Timmy went to work, and I tackled the boxes, all 43 of them. I stayed up until 3:30 am but I got a huge chunk done! I did not venture out past the diner under our building. Nothing to write home about from there...so sad.
Today was day two. I got all boxes unpacked! It took a lot of effort, but it's done. I decided to venture out today...alone. I walked all the way to Macy's and didn't get lost. I almost got hit by a car, but at least I knew where I was going. Macy's was out of control. 9 stories and almost a whole block. Nuts. I was overwhelmed. They have a starbucks, an au bon pain, and a McDonalds INSIDE Macy's!!!!!! Haha, no one else there was as impressed as I was. Snobs...
Naturally when I got out, the rain was coming down, and I had no umbrella. Good excuse to cab it home instead of walking.
Well that's it for now! Once the house looks good I will post some pictures :) I'm venturing out further tomorrow so we will see how that goes. I'll check back in soon! I love you and miss you all terribly!!!!
